Ben Fry
With this post, I start a new category of the blog focusing on important ( or interesting ) people about the world of infoVis, RIAs, eLearning and UserExperiences fields.
The aim of this section is to collect the best thoughts and projects from relevant sources.
The first one I’m starting to talk about is Ben Fry and I suggest to explore his own experiences on visualize complex data set and how he was able to make InfoVis solutions come out also for the mass market ( see the cover of Nature about the HapMap Project ).
Among others, I found interesting infoVis small Java Application about money spent from USA MLB teams and their results and the raprentation of the code into the old Atari cartridges.
He got a doctoral degree at MIT Media Laboratory ( his dissertation is available online ) and he work as a consultat and researcher into the InfoVis field.
Ben Fry is also developing Processing (a Java technology I talked about a while ago ) together with Casey Reas.
