Eqo, mobile VOIP and IM

After testing the Fring service and having used Agile Messenger till the free trial has expired, I searched for some other mobile IM and VOIP solutions.

I discovered and tested eqo, that allows IM Chats using almost the world big services ( including google talk, jabber, MSN, AOL, yahoo ) and also let users doing mobile-skype.

This final process ( mobile skype ) is done through an hibrid solution…

You have to:
– register to eqo
– download and install the J2ME mobile client on your phone
– activate the Skype service
– download and install a Skype plugin on your PC
– log to your skype account on your PC
In this way the Skype plugin acts like a proxy…

It’s not so easy and for an user to start using skype on his mobile ( Fring is really easy in that way ), but the InstantSessions Management System on the mobile client is very affordable and not so bad.

Eqo suffers the good quality of feedbacks and LivePresence indicators offered by Agile Messenger, but it’s a good solution for mobile IMChats.

Very important: if you are on the go and are talking with someone using Skype + eqo, pay attention that someone is not listening or reading your conversation on your home PC ;)
