Mobile Monday Italy – Milan, 16th may 2008

Mobile Monday Italy invited its community to come and show the most innovative mobile applications and services.

I’m going to make a short report of the presented applications, which I find very interesting.

The first talk was about an open source community of innovative mobile services and data, called Funambol Forge: “Funambol is the leading provider of mobile 2.0 messaging, powered by open source. Funambol solutions include push email for the mass market, mobile backup & PIM sync, device management and a mobile open source platform to mobilize applications and data.”

The second one, presented b.Tween “a ‘Flash to iPhone’ porting Technology that provides rapid migration of Flash content to the iPhone and iPodTouch as legal and native iPhone applications downloadable on iTunes”, enveloped by Barefoot Software Inc.

Comeks presented it’s homonymous named application “that allows you to create funny things with your camera phone.” Than you can send them to your friend’s phone or share in websites like Facebook or Bebo.
The next one presentation was about BRAND (of Roberto Marsicano), which stands for Best Router Access Number Dialing: “a patented call-directing system that enables accessing any phone resource via an alphanumeric selection.”
Sergio Ferraro (Politecnico di Milano) reported the huge potentiality of multimedia mobile devices, starting from his research thesis work guided by Francesco Galli (Politecnico di Milano, Facolta’ del Design, Dipartimento INDACO), in which he proposes a scenario related to the Shanghai World Expo 2010.

Ubiquicom Locator, presented by Ubiquicum (a young company), is a software-only platform, developed to localize any standard WiFi device under network coverage.

Virgola Net presents Tonight.eu Mobile Edition. Tonight.eu is a social network focused on nightlife across Europe. The mobile version is a key tool used on the road everywhere. The last one was Waymedia which presents their new platform for Proximity Marketing, called Mobitouch Cube.
